Maserati Leads the Industry Maserati the car of choice in a discerning market
For Maserati, great product produced an enormous result: record sales in 2007. The introduction of the Quattroporte Automatic early in the year, the first deliveries of the stunning GranTurismo coupe in the autumn, and the enormous desirability and evident quality of all the brand’s offerings propelled Maserati North America to its best ever results.
Maserati North America President James Selwa was able to lift some industry gloom at the 2008 North American International Auto Show in Detroit by announcing his company’s sales of 2,650 cars in North America, evidence of a marvelous resurgence. Although those volumes are a drop in the bucket for mass-luxury giants like BMW and Mercedes-Benz, one of the attractions of Maserati is that unique exclusivity, helping to set the owner apart. Consumers of the competitive true luxury sports sedan segment made it clear what they want: real exclusivity, quality, beauty and usable performance. For that, they come to Maserati.

For Maserati 2,650 cars represents an increase of 20% over 2006 – which made the Trident No.1 on the Automotive News list of 2007 Winners and Losers – Maserati was the fastest growing automotive brand in North America. BMW, Mercedes, Jaguar and every other manufacturer competing in Maserati’s market segment experienced substantial declines in premium sales over the same period.
Maserati’s sales success comes despite the much-publicized slowdown in the United States economy. In fact, the market for luxury sedans costing over $100,000 was down by 12% - and despite all this, the Maserati Quattroporte increased sales handsomely, boosted by the introduction of the state-of-the-art ZF six-speed automatic transmission.
While deliveries of the GranTurismo have only just begun, it has already made a significant contribution to the increasing success of Maserati. With its combination of breathtaking performance, stunning design and practicality, the car looks set to become as great a sales success in 2008 as the Quattroporte was in 2007.
The backdrop to this spectacular sales news was the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, where increasing numbers of discerning enthusiasts recognized the Quattroporte and GranTurismo as modern masterpieces. Complementing the beautiful cars were beautiful models likewise outfitted in some of the finest Italian styles including shoes by Cesare Paciotti and dresses by Just Cavalli, Gianfranco Ferre and Galliano, provided by Ittierre USA.
Good sales are often accompanied by measured growth and the Maserati dealer network is therefore expanding to better serve the needs of its exclusive and discerning owners. Several new dealerships began operations in 2007, bringing the North American network to 54 - an increase of 18% over the past three years. Your own authorized Maserati dealer will be pleased to help you ride the wave of Maserati’s success.
