DESIGN DRIVEN, the initiative by Maserati to find the finest architectural garages in America, has only been running for a matter of weeks but the entries have already included some stunning spaces for cars and their enthusiasts. The innovative competition, being run in conjunction with Architectural Digest magazine, seeks to find the most inspiring and spectacular garages, both existing and conceptual.  Not only are the competition entries being updated weekly, Architectural Digest has now provided the first in a series of great articles to help you Get Inspired. With advice from architects and designers, this series will can help you submit a winning design or show your existing garage to its best effect.  It's also another great reason to check back often on DESIGN DRIVEN.   

Anyone can enter an existing garage, or a dream garage that exists as plans, drawings or images. All entries will be judged on design, layout, individuality, uniqueness, and their ability to complement a fine Maserati automobile. In addition, Concept garages will be judged on their sustainable vision for the future, and existing ones on their architectural significance.  Entries can be made, viewed and voted on at www.designdriven.us. 

New entries to the competition appear on the site each week, and everyone is voting on their favorite designs. Voting began in mid-March, so the first weekly popular vote winners have already been chosen; all of these weekly winners will compete again in a June runoff to determine the People’s Choice. The cutoff date for entries is 1 June 2009; after that date the finest existing and conceptual garages will be chosen by Maserati according to the criteria listed above. The best existing garage will win its owner a coveted place in the pages of the October 2009 issue of Architectural Digest - a singular honor for a garage - it will be photographed by Architectural Digest and featured within a special Maserati section, as well as receiving extensive coverage on the DESIGN DRIVEN Web site.  The best concept garage will be created as an architectural model which will tour Maserati dealerships nationwide.  The winners will be announced in June.
