Exterior elegance, interior luxury
See why every ride in a Maserati feels special

Both the Quattroporte and GranTurismo are prime examples of a design house at the top of its game; call us biased, but we firmly believe that over the past few years, Pininfarina has been doing its finest work for Maserati. Both cars have been praised for the wonderfully elegant, sporty look of the exterior. But however much pleasure can be derived from admiring the swooping bodywork, it is our opinion that time is much better spent on the inside of the car.

Here you will find yet more evidence of the great work and attention to detail of Pininfarina, together with the commitment of the Vehicle Integration engineers at Maserati to make the cockpit a truly luxurious, comfortable environment. From the quality of the materials to the positioning of the controls, no detail has been overlooked. Noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) are particular targets of the Vehicle Integration specialists - and while the exhaust can still be heard, especially in the GranTurismo S and Quattroporte Sport GT S when in Sport mode, 'noise' would be spectacularly inappropriate to describe the glorious music made by the Ferrari-built V8 engine.

With a surprisingly quiet cabin in a car with such obvious sporting prowess, occupants can enjoy the superb acoustics offered by the audio system. Both the Quattroporte and GranTurismo feature no fewer than eleven speakers, from 1.4" tweeters for high-range frequencies through to a 10" woofer. The system has been developed in association with Bose® and acoustically engineered to each car's layout; for example, a 5.1" woofer is fitted in the front passenger footrest, in an enclosure customized to each car's requirements.

As with the rest of the car, high-tech systems are constantly at work to optimize sound quality. The AudioPilot® system monitors ambient noise within the cabin and continually adjusts signal parameters to deliver the best possible sound to the occupants. The Diversity system uses two separate radio aerials, which are activated reciprocally to obtain the best signal reception; and the GranTurismo also has the Centerpoint® equalizing system; stereo recordings are split into eight separate channels, enabling the automatic frequency balancing to have even greater precision.

Every Maserati is fitted with an advanced climate control system with dual zones; some models of Quattroporte also have a duplicate set of controls, to allow rear-seat passengers to control temperature and fan speeds. Even here, the system has hidden depths; in Automatic mode an air quality sensor monitors outside air, and if pollutants are detected - such as in a traffic jam or when driving through a tunnel - the climate control system will switch to recirculate the air within the cabin. It will also switch to recirculation at slow speeds in certain circumstances, to ensure exhaust gases are not drawn into the cabin. And to maintain air quality, the system will automatically turn off the recirculation mode after fifteen minutes.
