Unprecedented Third Consecutive Victory

It’s a three-peat! And now, for the third time in a row, comes independent confirmation of those views: Robb Report has named the superb Quattroporte Sport GT S best sedan in their annual Best of the Best issue.

Each year Robb Report selects the finest products on offer across a wide range of categories; only new or revised products are eligible, and a car cannot be eligible two years in succession, so a win with every nomination is consecutive victory by the rules of this contest. The Quattroporte has been nominated three times – and each time it has been given the accolade of Best of the Best. In 2004, the then-new Quattroporte triumphed, and the Quattroporte Sport GT took the honors in 2006; now the Quattroporte Sport GT S, with its 4.7-liter V8 engine, has made it three in a row.

The magnitude of this achievement can be judged from the short list of cars the Maserati bested: Bentley Continental Flying Spur Speed, BMW 750Li and Cadillac CTS-V. The Quattroporte won praise for its performance and handling – and also its sound. “Best of all, when you press the dash-mounted Sport button, the new [exhaust] system emits a baritone bray louder than any prancing horse in Ferrari’s stable,” wrote Paul Meyers.
